If Radiohead really wanted me to go to their Monday night (8/25) show at the Hollywood Bowl, would they actually send me to Ticketmaster’s proprietary scalping site, TicketsNow?!? I didn’t think so. Take your overpriced ticket scam and eat it Ticketbastard… you are to blame for holding tickets to resell for your own profit ala the Hanna Montana fiasco and everything else. Count me in on any class action, people.

Oh yeah, and I’d love to buy your extra pair of Radiohead tickets at face value.

EA Scrabble Goes Live for N. American Facebookers. Scrabulous Killer? Hell No.

I’ve been toying with EA Scrabble on Facebook for the past week or so as a beta tester and I must say, I’m underwhelmed. It is slow, clunky, overly stuffed with graphics, and in many ways reminiscent of a Flash landing page that just slows everything down. Mattel launched Scrabble for Facebook over 3 months ago, and obviously it wasn’t a priority for EA (who licensed the games digital rights in North America) to put up a practical solution that would appear to be not just taxing on any old computer, but most definitely on a mobile device.

That said, I haven’t had much opportunity to play against anyone *I know* so if you’re interested, hit me up on facebook and i’ll invite you into a game!

Until then, I maintain that the simple, straightforward and more Scrabble-like interface of Scrabulous is superior. And I’ll keep playing my current standby, the Boggle-like game Scramble.

How to Opt-Out of Appearing in Facebook Ads

facebook appearance sidebar adsA couple months ago I was put off after seeing a friend in a sidebar ad on Facebook and realizing that I likely appeared on the sidebar of my friend’s Facebooks without my knowing.

At left, you’ll see Tom Lewis aka TomDog purporting to endorse a Facebook App. Sure, he probably is a “fan” of the app but I doubt he realizes that his image is being used in this manner on his friends’ sidebar.

There IS a way to opt out of your likeness being used in this paid ads for Facebook Apps, although it is not entirely easy to find the opt-out page.

Log-in to Facebook, go to “privacy” at the top right, click “News Feed and Mini-Feed,” then select the “Social Ads” tab within the module and change “Appearance in Social Ads” to No One. Screenshot below. Anyone else have issues with this?

Facebook: By Adding This App, You Agree to Be Used in an Ad

facebook app beaconThis kind of caught me by surprise — I’ve never seen it — even in the small print of a Facebook App — where adding an application to your profile equivocates signing away your likeness to said app for use in an add on your friends’ profiles. Here’s my friend Patrick Neeman of Speaktech being totally USED and I wonder if he even knows it?

Is this unique to the “Friends for Sale” App being advertised here or is this a standard policy allowed by developers who build Facebook Apps? Seems a little much to me… What do you think?
