Google Goes Open Source & CC for Radiohead’s ‘House of Cards’

Google is hosting open source and Creative Commons-licensed code for everyone to remix Radiohead’s latest video from In Rainbows, “House of Cards.”

“In Radiohead’s new video for ‘House of Cards,’ no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects,” according to the band’s YouTube channel.

After hearing about Radiohead’s first-of-its kind video, Google:

[A]greed with the band that it would be great to give you a deeper look into how all of this was done, and even a chance to play with the data yourself, under a license that allows remixing… You can view the video, watch a short documentary about how it was made, interact with the video in 3D, download some of the data, and download an iGoogle theme and gadget – all at http://code.google.com/radiohead.

Beck at the Echo Last Night

beck echo june 9 2008Great time last night catching Beck’s set at the Echo. He warmed up his new band in advance of the summer European tour and dropped lots of classics plus new tunes. Lambie captured some awesome vid. Check a new song here and below, Beck rocks “Scarecrow.” Shout out to The Echo!

Amazon Releases MP3 Clips Widget

I’ve been an Amazon associate for years and have yet to reap any rewards, however, I’ve always had fun playing with their new tools, from the Omakase ad widget to clicking on my own ads to (eventually) get an additional 5% off and now to testing their new MP3 clips widget.

Let’s have some fun!

Cubs Win; Wood Wishes to Keep Wrigley Analog

kerry wood cubsI’ve heard all the stories about Kerry Wood, party animal. Dude blew his arm out a million times, got pudgy and then became skinny as can be. He still has an arm, and although he makes me nervous as hell with his proneness to injury, he was awesome at the end of the ’07 season.

But the real reason I love Kerry Wood, is that he is a true CUB. Case in point: After shrugging off the cheesy Trevor Hoffman-esque concept of having a theme song play upon the entrance of a hard-throwing closer, Kerry came to play in the 9th, in spite of the non-organ-ized version of AC/DC’s “Dynamite.”

“I’ve never heard music played here,” he said…. Wood said he would prefer to hear Wrigley organist Gary Pressy “tickling the ivory” than music coming over the loud speakers.

Let it Be, Cubs marketing team. Now keep on winning.
